German duo Let Me Drown combine aggressive instrumentals with dual clean female and intense male vocals in a catchy but affronting sound they describe as “raw, cathartic and relentless.”
Let Me Drown is formed of Lasse and Marie, a couple from Regensburg, Bavaria, who share the same passion for music. Lasse has experience as a bassist, songwriter and backing vocalist, while Marie has strong vocal experience and a deep love for heavy music. And, one day, they decided to start their own band. Together, the duo combine metalcore with clean vocals and electronic instrumentals in a sound that’s simultaneously engaging and bruising.
On the sound they’ve crafted, they told us: “Our music is a mix of raw emotion, aggressive energy, and deeply personal themes. It’s heavy, but it’s also deeply human. Imagine raw aggression, emotional intensity and no fear of being experimental or stepping out of the genre – all blended into one. We combine breakdowns, melodies, and raw, honest lyrics that cut deep. It’s music that makes you want to scream along and feel everything at once.”
Our first taste of this is Let Me Drown’s debut single Remorse, which was released at the end of last month and features fellow Bavarian metalcore band DEADEND. It opens up with a stabbing synth sound that continues under Marie’s opening vocals and a mass of building electronic sounds. That explodes into heavy guitar chords and wild electronic sounds under Lasse’s vocals, and Marie returns before flying into a vicious delivery of heavy vocals. The chorus comes in with Marie’s engaging vocals “I don’t wanna stay alive, The guilt chokes me so tight, Don’t wanna stay alive, When the shadow gets a hold of me, Get a hold of me, Hold of me, I don’t wanna.”
Stabbing synths jump in then more heavy guitars support Marie’s vocals before another vicious blast of intense screams. Another chorus jumps in and the pace drops, setting up a huge breakdown of heavy guitars and blast drums to bring the track to a close.
On the track, they said: “The response to our debut single has been amazing. People are really excited about our project. That really fuels our passion to keep refining our sound and pushing our music even further. Expect a high-energy fusion of infectious hooks, crushing low-tuned guitars and hardcore-infused vocals that will keep you hooked from start to finish.”
The Let Me Drown sound has been inspired by bands like Poppy, thrown, and Knocked Loose. “We love artists who push boundaries,” they told us, “whether it’s blending genres, experimenting with sound, or bringing raw, unfiltered emotion into their music.”
And on what inspires them to write music, they added: “Mental health is a major theme in our music. We write about personal struggles, things that have shaped us, and topics that need to be talked about more openly. Remorse, for example, is about the cycles of violence—how trauma can be passed down and repeated if it’s never confronted.
“Musically, it’s intense: emotional, desperate clean vocals, hard shouts, phonk sounds and heavy drums. If you’re into heavy music that hits both physically and emotionally, Remorse is for you. We don’t shy away from the darkness, but we also try to find catharsis in it.”
Let Me Drown have two new songs ready to be released and are already working on new material. And they promise us one of the biggest highlights will be the release of the video for their upcoming single Codependency. The duo are also planning live shows and hope to be on stage as much as possible in 2025.
And they added: “We’re all about raw emotion, honesty, and connection. Our music is heavy, both sonically and emotionally, but at its core, it’s about finding a way to process and survive. If you’ve ever felt lost, angry, or overwhelmed, our music is for you. Let’s drown together.”
