Introducing: White Cloud Fire

Finnish band White Cloud Fire have crafted the type of thrilling rock sound that you can’t help by want to belt out at the top of your lungs, led by powerful vocals and packed with heavy riffing.

White Cloud Fire is fronted by Italy-born vocalist Andrea Brosio, who moved to Finland aged 19 and came third in the Finnish version of The Voice in 2017. Swiftly after the competition, he started the band with long-time school friend and fellow songwriter and guitarist Ilkka Kainulainen and bassist Jaakko Pellotsalo. The lineup was later completed by Andrea’s half-Italian school friend Paulo Poverini on drums and guitarist Jaakko Puusaari, and as Andrea tells us: “Each member of the band is my best friend, so I gathered them in one project and it’s been a great time so far. Simply put, there’s no way you’ll feel indifference about it.”

The band released their latest single The Truth Of My Heart last month. It opens up with fun stabbing guitars that drop into Andrea’s engaging vocals over light guitars, with backing vocals creeping in. That feeds into a huge chorus “How could I ever glorify, The fake around and the cold inside, Life’s too short to testify, Another lie against the truth of my heart.” Darting guitars jump in and give way to a more intense second verse that flow into another singalong chorus. That drops into a little guitar flurry and a prolonged growl, setting up another blast of the chorus before big vocals and a piercing guitar lick bring the track to a dramatic conclusion.

On the track, Andrea said: “It’s a mixture of heavy rock in different shades – there’s a good chance you’ll end up liking it!”

The Truth Of My Heart is the latest in a series of singles that began with debut release Libertá, which was released in 2017 and features Michael Monroe from legendary Finnish band Hanoi Rocks. More recently, they released Tell Me last year, which opens up with light guitars and vocals but explodes into a huge singalong chorus. We also love the dramatic Scream Your Name, which opens up with delicious stabbing vocals and strings that give way to feisty call-and-response vocals. It flows into a punchy chorus led by Andrea’s powerful vocals, and a second chorus drops into a lively instrumental section led by a delicious guitar solo before a slightly gothic bridge tees up a final blast of the chorus.

The White Cloud Fire sound draws on a wide range of rock influences, with the band taking a heavier approach in recent years. And Andrea told us: “We tend to write about what’s going on in the world – underlining the struggle of oneself adjusting to this society.”

There’s plenty more to come from the band, who already have their next single recorded, which is about AI and Andrea promises will have us “blasted.” And he added: “Give us a chance to listen to our songs a couple of times – and if you don’t like it, tell a friend to do the same (so you won’t stay disappointed all alone.”
