You could be forgiven for assuming Austria’s Veins of Suffering hailed from the northern lands of Scandinavia, given their aggressive and haunting death metal sound.
“You want to have fun? This ain’t gonna happen.” That’s a promise from Austrian deathcore meets progressive metal collective Nightmare Constellation, who’ve concocted a brutal, dark and ominous sound that they describe as “ruminative, gloomy and unusual.”
Austrian rockers The Jupiter Effect have honed an intriguing, unusual sound that fuses progressive rock and metal with a stoner rock vibe fuelled by delicious guitar riffs.
The intense sound of Austrian band Demonicera is as terrifying as the band’s name suggests it ought to be. And it’s the realisation of the band’s attempts to hone their own unique death metal sound over the last few years.
On Friday, I attended my first ever protest march, joining a #FridaysForFuture protest through Santiago that was attended by thousands of Chileans demanding action on climate change. And it just so happens that the issues raised by this movement – and several others like it – are providing answers to the issues that inspired Austria-based band Charlywood’s latest single.
