New Band of the Week: Æl-Fierlen

English newcomers Æl-Fierlen have crafted a beautifully haunting and intense black metal meets blackgaze sound that they describe as “ethereal, atmospheric and dark.”

Discovering New Bands On Groover: Introducing Feldspar, Fear The Lions, Mantra, Pyrecult, In The Abyss, GoGo & Midas Royal

If you’ve read any of our recent articles, you’ll have seen us reference discovering new bands through Groover, a music submission and discovery platform. With that in mind, we wanted to drill down into what Groover is and summarise a few of the most recent submissions we’ve received.

Introducing: Sunshine

Sunshine combines, in their words, “a vibrant amalgamation of diverse subgenres,” bringing together elements of hardcore, punk and black metal in an aggressive yet harmonic whirlwind of musical energy. Formed of six guys who’d been active in various metal bands for several years, Sunshine combine to bring us an intriguing sound that they summarise as “uncompromising, honest and love.”

Introducing: Bloody Falls

Finnish band Bloody Falls have crafted a powerful and engaging “one of a kind” black metal sound that fuses old school with the contemporary and they describe as “dynamic, melodic and groovy.”

Introducing: Unredeemer

Finnish band Unredeemer offer up a vicious fusion of death, thrash and groove metal that they describe as “heavy, energetic and groovy.”

New Band of the Week: Semprus

We were introduced to Guildford band Semprus with the adjectives “brutal, savage and ferocious,” so we of course had to delve deeper into the diverse technical death metal meets deathcore sound the band describe as “constant evolving chaos.”

Introducing: Aasar

Rising out of the cold valleys in the mountains of northern Italy comes a force to be reckoned with in the form of extreme blackened metal band Aasar, who describe their music as “dramatic, solemn and aggressive.”

Introducing: Depressive Witches

If there was one genre of music you never thought you’d be jigging along to in delight, black metal would probably be pretty high on the list. But prepare to change all that thanks to French duo Depressive Witches.
