A Friday the 13th in Camden was duly given the heavy metal delivering it deserved as five exciting new bands put on a great show at The Crowndale Club last night. We headed down to see Defences, our New Band of the Week from a couple of weeks ago, and found another female-fronted band that... Continue Reading →

Gig Review: MassMatiks, Youth Killed It & How’s Harry
MassMatiks and Youth Killed It are two of the most exciting bands around with their own versions of spoken word / rap meets rock. And the duo teamed up to put on a great show in London on Friday night, with able support from How's Harry at a sold-out Hoxton Bar and Kitchen. The evening... Continue Reading →
Gig Review: Chapter and Verse, wars & Guillotine at Birthdays
Deep in the heart of hipster East London, three of the most exciting new up-and-coming British bands put on a show to get the locals' funky beards and purple trousers in a twist at Birthdays in Dalston last night. As an East London (very much non-hipster) resident myself, I was delighted to take the short... Continue Reading →

Gig Review: More Than Machines, Jack The Envious, Your Illumination & Cuecliché
On Saturday night we went along to see our New Band of the Week from last month Jack The Envious rock Surya, in Kings Cross, alongside Irish headliners More Than Machines, Your Illuminations and Cuecliché. The evening was kicked off by Cuecliché - but I have to admit I didn't make it in time for... Continue Reading →
Gig Review: Last Hounds, No Braver, Icarus Dive & From Idols To Ashes
In the nine months I've been writing about new bands and going to see them play gigs, nothing gives me more pleasure than meeting bands who not only rock out fairly intimate venues and are truly talented at what they do, but are also genuinely the nicest people you could meet. This was true of... Continue Reading →
