February New Music Round-Up: JAW, Disconnected, Twisted Faith, ETHMEBB, The Hollowmen Project, Chemical Vision, Ray Of Light & Hemwick

We recently began discovering new rock and metal bands through music discovery platform Groover. Some bands don’t respond to our requests for interviews, so we’ll likely be doing semi-regular round-ups of new artists we’ve discovered through the site.

Introducing: gloomy june

San Francisco’s gloomy june tell us “you probably have to be a little emo” to enjoy the sound of their hooky indie meets synthpop meets pop rock sound that they describe as “sad, gay, friends.” Luckily for them, we’re all at least a little bit emo.

Introducing: Steve Creep and the Wildcards

Montreal newcomers Steve Creep and the Wildcards compare enjoying their engaging rock sound to the experience of appreciating the look and sound of a vintage car, summarising it as “catchy, retro and melodic.”

Introducing: INVISIBLE KIDS

Making music in the Ukraine, with the ongoing conflict started by Russia, is one of the most severe challenges we can imagine. But Ukrainian solo artist INVISIBLE KIDS is delivering great new music while providing critical support to the Ukrainian armed forces. In doing so, he offers up a raw and grungey metal sound that’s big on experimentation, and he describes as “atmosphere, concept, and groove.”

Introducing: The Nude

New York band The Nude began with vocalist Luke Bergstedt addressing an existential crisis that left him asking himself “are you a musician or not?” during the pandemic. But the thrilling modern rock’n’roll sound the band has honed since, by combining elements of metal, funk, punk and the blues, ensures question marks are no longer required.

New Band of the Week: Glass Heart

The luscious valleys of South Wales are famed for producing standout post-hardcore bands, and Cardiff quartet Glass Heart continue that heritage with a powerful and engaging sound they describe as “dynamic, catchy and energetic.”
