Introducing: Until We Meet

Danish duo Until We Meet combine influences from metal, post-rock and electronic genres to blend a catchy and powerful alternative metal sound that they describe as “singalong, heavy and energetic.”

The duo of guitarist and vocalist Medrian Jamito and drummer Casper Zachrau Due formed out of their previous band Capital of Nowhere that parted ways after 10 years. But Medrian and Casper decided they weren’t done making music together.

On the new project, Medrian told us: “Until We Meet’s sound is all about blending contrasts into something truly unique. It’s a sound that’s both powerful and uplifting. It kinda sounds like your soft side met your dark side and figured things out. It’s emotional, raw, and written with the intent to leave a lasting impression.”

Our first taste of this is the duo’s debut single I’ll Be Gone, which was released last month. It starts out with a little riff that explodes into a heavier version supported by a big scream, then feeds into a heavy opening verse led by screamed vocals. That flows into a more melodic chorus of powerful vocals “It never ends, Soon I’ll be gone, Take care my friend, Sorry for what I’ve done.” Lively drums support a riff bridging into a second verse of clean but dark vocals that feed into an extended chorus, which drops into a cool little riff then chunky guitars, cymbals and doomy synth support screamed vocals. Another chorus ends with a “bleugh” setting up a heavy outro.

On the track, Medrian said: “People have been giving us positive and supportive feedback, and they are happy we are back at writing music again. A few fans of Capital of Nowhere said that it’s a bit harder than the songs from that band. So expect more screaming, heavier riffs and an overall harder sound. We have this newfound hunger to write new music so expect more of that too.” Check it out in the lyric video here:

That track comes from the duo’s upcoming debut EP Lost In The Sea, on which Medrian told us: “It’s both very exciting and nerve-wracking to release new music. We hope people will welcome the EP with an open mind and know that we put a lot of hard work into it. They can expect an aggressive, hard-hitting, pop-ish and catchy soundscape with relatable lyrics.

“We hope the listeners will experience and enjoy the EP as a whole, because the songs we wrote are personal and the result of us growing older, learning and evolving as people and friends. So we are very curious to see how the EP will resonate with our listeners. Whether you’re in the mood to reflect or just drift away, there’s something in it for you. We hope that the listeners can connect with it and find their own stories in these songs.”

The Until We Meet sound has been influenced by fellow metal bands like Bring Me The Horizon, Architects and I Prevail. And on what inspires them to write music, Medrian explains: “We’re influenced by everyday life, our feelings and experiences. Our key themes and topics are love and finding your own place in the world.”

Until We Meet will release two more singles in the next few months, before releasing their debut EP in the Spring. They also have their first show booked in Germany, ahead of which they need to figure out how to perform as a duo on stage.
