Introducing: IMPVRE

We were hooked from the first moment we heard the intense sound of German band IMPVRE, who fuse vicious screamed vocals and brutal instrumentals with engaging choruses in a sound they describe as “versatile modern metal.”

IMPVRE, who hail from Höxter in Lower Saxony, started out as a metalcore band before developing a more hardcore edge, but they’re now returning to their metalcore roots with three new members on board. Now formed of Bianca Herrmann (lead vocals), Sascha Mordtmann (guitar), Eike Bruns (bass) and Jonas Schlanstedt (drums), the new lineup started out with Bianca getting to know Jonas on Instagram and being invited to a rehearsal. Mixing engineer Sascha stepped up when their previous guitarist departed and Eike completed the lineup, having played in Bianca’s former band.

On the sound they’ve crafted, they told us: “Hard, emotional, experimental. You have to listen for yourself. We have been told there’s no comparison.”

The first track with the new lineup on board is the superb Nightmares, which was released last week. It opens up with a high-pitched synth over whispery vocals, which explodes into a vicious blast of bouncy guitars and wild screamed vocals. The pace drops as Bianca’s clean vocals take over in an engaging opening verse, before her vocals intensify and drop into another delicious smash of heavy vocals and guitars. It feeds into a big singalong chorus led by catchy clean vocals “Hear my silent cry, In the night, Heal me, feel me, I’m trying to fight, What’s out of my sight.”

It delves into new levels of darkness with gothic instrumentals under huge chugging guitars and vicious vocals. Clean vocals suddenly return as the atmosphere lightens with twirling synth sounds, before dropping into another heavy section.

On the track, the band told us: “We are flabbergasted by the kind words and love we habe been getting on the single. It‘s amazing to see which impact we have on people and what they feel, while listening or reading the lyrics. We couldn‘t be more thankful and filled with love. I mean, they‘re spending a bit of their precious lifetime listening to our music. Crazy! They should expect a mix of dark, creepy, atmospheric instrumentals, paired with deep, powerful shouts and whiny cleans. Aaaand: A pretty heavy breakdown!” Check it out in the video here:

The IMPVRE sound is influenced by metalcore influences like Spiritbox, hardcore bands like thrown and Malevolence, and progressive metal like Jinjer and Periphery. “That‘s probably why every song of ours sounds different,” the band tell us. “With this being said: Stay tuned!

“We write music out of deep love to the tunes that we are able to create. Sascha writes the instrumentals and his creative art and the way he’s writing them is insane. It’s so good, even we get surprised by the sound.  When it comes to lyrics, Bianca is always writing about real-life stories that happened to her, starting in the past, present or future. Or about topics that affect her emotionally. She’s writing out of pure emotion.”

We’re loving the new sound of IMPVRE and we’re really excited to hear what else the band have coming our way. We’re also big fans of Germans using the word “flabbergasted.” IMPVRE are currently in the process of recording and releasing new music, which they’ve been preparing for the last year. They also have three gigs planned, which they’re not yet allowed to announce the details of, and there’s a lot more music to come from this exciting, versatile band.

And they added: “We love to share strong messages through our lyrics and through our music in general. We want to live in a world of peace and love and if you want this too, please join the IMPVRE family. We are more than excited to welcome YOU in a community that sounds and looks hard, but brings you back to the core – to your heart.”

You can follow IMPVRE on Instagram and TikTok, and check out their music on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer and YouTube.
